Need Help, Wooden tattoo machine questions

So my girl is a tattoo artist and I blow glass, but I want to make her a hand carved tattoo machine.
The only metal being: Coil Core Wiring Springs Screws and bindings Base Plate
But I want to know if there is any good reason why I couldn't or shouldn't use wood. I know I'm going to have to use a really hard wood like ebony, But do you think the force will be so strong that I will need it to be metal.
Also I'm worried about vibration. I haven't seen too many wood machines, the few I've seen are "coated" to make it look wood, but they don't say exactly what it is made of. I could only assume some sort of metal.
I know they make tattoo machines almost out of everything, but I want this to work as good or better than something she could buy and gave it be personal.
Thanks!
